In their cross-cultural study of sexual performance Dord and Beach noted the lowest incidence of copulation among the Keraki, who generally have (had) sexual intercourse only once a week. The Lesu do a little better with once or twice a week. Two or three times a week is thought to be typical among the Chiricahua and the Trukese. More active still, the Hopi Indians were reckoned to copulate three or four times a week; and “although the Crow Indians think it weakening to have intercourse every night, they find it difficult to do so less frequently.” Among the Siriono, coitus usually occurs about once a day. The Aranda of Australia were said to have sexual intercourse as much as five times nightly, sleeping between each sex act. And the Ifugao of the Philippines were reckoned to admire men who had intercourse several times in a single night. The African Thonga male may copulate with three or four of his wives in a single night, as already noted; and Chagga males have surprising virility. I have come across no records among whites to equal the Chagga accomplishments.
